Where does your water come from?

Check a recent water bill — it will name your utility or municipal utility district (MUD). If instead you have a pressure tank and well pump somewhere in the house or yard, you're on a private well. Once you know, select the option above.

Well water varies enormously from property to property, so it can't be matched to a system through a questionnaire — it requires an actual water test first. Beor Well, our well-water system built from your specific test results, is in development as part of our next phase.

In the meantime, if you haven't had your well tested, that's the right first step regardless of which system you eventually choose. Water Filtration 101 has more on why testing matters.

Does your utility use chlorine or chloramine?

Your utility's annual water quality report lists this. If you're served by the City of Houston, view your report here. Anywhere else in the region, use the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's Drinking Water Viewer to look up your specific provider. Once you know, select an option above.

Was your home built before 1986?

County property records or your original purchase disclosures usually list the build year. This only affects whether a lead-reduction upgrade is worth considering — it won't change which base system fits your water. Read more about lead here, or just continue.
